Vilon is a synthetic dipeptide consisting of the amino acids Lysine and Glutamic Acid (Lys–Glu). It was developed as part of the Cytomedins class of tissue-specific bioregulators in Russia and is among the best-studied peptides from the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology.

Scientific Background:

Vilon is thought to act on the nuclear genome, influencing chromatin structure and regulating the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and immune system function. It has demonstrated immunomodulatory, anti-aging, and cytoprotective effects in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

In animal models, Vilon has been shown to:

• Stimulate thymic activity and T-cell proliferation
• Normalize immune cell populations in aging and disease
• Improve resistance to infections and stress
• Exert anti-apoptotic effects on lymphoid cells
• Modulate gene expression of cytokines and antioxidant enzymes

According to Khavinson et al., Vilon significantly increased lifespan and restored immune markers in aged rodents, and showed potential for immune restoration in immunocompromised models [Khavinson et al., Biogerontology, 2004; Peptides, 2010].
