Citicoline (CDP-Choline)

Citicoline (cytidine-5’-diphosphocholine) is a neuroprotective nootropic compound that serves as an essential intermediate in phospholipid metabolism. Once administered, citicoline breaks down into cytidine and choline; these components cross the blood-brain barrier and are used by neurons to synthesize phosphatidylcholine for cell membranes and to boost acetylcholine production. Citicoline has been shown to enhance neuronal membrane repair, reduce cell death after ischemic injury, and improve neuroplasticity.
