The Story of Stemiax

Stemiax began with a personal experience that revealed just how difficult access to innovative treatments can be, even when a doctor is willing to try.

When my grandfather became seriously ill, we explored every option available. His doctor was open to the idea of using an experimental drug that was showing promise in early research. For a moment, it felt like there was a path forward. But then we learned the reality: the cost for just a single dose was so high that it was effectively out of reach. The compound itself was not rare or impossibly difficult to produce, yet it was being sold at an extreme markup, making it inaccessible to all but the largest institutions.

This was not an isolated issue. As I looked deeper, I discovered that many essential research compounds were being sold to universities, hospitals, and labs at markups of 100x or more compared to their actual production cost. The result was fewer trials, fewer experimental treatments, and fewer opportunities for patients, even in cases where doctors wanted to act.

That is why I founded Stemiax. Our mission is simple:

In the search for cures to mentally afflicting illnesses like Alzheimer’s, there is hope that progress might also unlock new insights into cognition and perhaps even enhance intelligence itself.
